Ron Meyers is one of the more influential pottery artists and educators living in America today. His narrative, colored slip paintings of rats, fish, bats, rabbits, chickens that float on the surface in a gestural expressionistic style can be both provocative and confrontational.
This artist’s background is substantial. Emeritus Professor of the University of Georgia, Athens where he taught for over 20 years. Ron Meyers has BS and MS degrees in Art Education from the State University College in Buffalo, NY. Meyers also received his MFA degree in Ceramics from the School for American Craftsmen, Rochester Institute of Technology. His work is represented in many museums and private collections, and he is a 2007 recipient of the NCECA Excellence in Teaching Award by the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis as the 2008 Regis Masters Series Honor. The Regis Masters series honors senior artists that have had a major impact on the development of 20th and 21st ceramics in the United States.
