Wheel Throwing

Offers a sense of rhythm and flow as the potter interacts with the spinning wheel and the pliable clay, resulting in beautiful and functional pieces of art.

About Wheel Throwing

Beginning Wheel

This six-week class will teach you the necessary skills to make cylinders, cups, and bowls using the potter’s wheel as your primary working tool. An introduction to the whole process of working with clay will be demonstrated during our class. This 6-week course has been designed for people who need more experience working on the wheel and for people who want to get better at the foundations of working with clay on the wheel.

Intermediate Wheel

The Intermediate Wheel Throwing class is designed for people who have successfully completed the Wheel for Beginners course at Jane’s or have previous experience making pots on the wheel. During our six-week classes, we will introduce different projects and building techniques using the wheel, including hand-building and leather-hard manipulation of thrown pots.

Advanced Wheel

The Advanced wheel is for people who have enough experience on the wheel to start focusing on the aesthetics and the subtleties behind refining and polishing their work. This class is a mix of demos and directed studies where students are expected to be self-driven. Demos will be for the whole class but on the different topics each student brings for the instructor to demo.
